SEPA QR Code Generator (EPC / GiroCode)
Build an EPC QR code for a SEPA credit transfer: the bank app reads the recipient, IBAN and amount from the code instead of typing them. Free, no sign-up.
Content
Choose what people get when they scan the code.
Fill in the details you want to share - scanning the code saves them straight to the phone as a contact card.
Scanning the code joins the network straight from the iOS and Android camera apps. The details are kept in this browser only.
Create an EPC (SEPA) payment code: banking apps in euro countries scan it to prefill a transfer - no account access is shared. Amounts are in EUR.
A full code, or a short code with a city, e.g. 9G8F+6X Berlin. Find it in Google Maps under the place's address.

How to make a SEPA (EPC) QR code in 3 steps
- Enter the beneficiary name and IBAN, then optionally the amount, reference and purpose code.
- Check the field warnings - the IBAN is validated with its checksum while you type.
- Download the code and scan it with a banking app to confirm the transfer data before sending or printing it.
What happens when someone scans a SEPA QR code
This is the EPC QR code defined for SEPA credit transfers: it holds the recipient name, IBAN, optional BIC, amount in euro, purpose code and a remittance reference as plain text inside the pattern. Banking apps across the euro area scan it and pre-fill a transfer for review - in Germany, Austria and nearby countries it is commonly called GiroCode. Nothing happens automatically: the payer still checks the data and authenticates the payment in their own bank app, and no account access is shared with the code. The transfer is always in euro, so leave the amount empty if the payer should choose it. The IBAN entered here is checked against the international mod-97 checksum, but compare every digit before sending money, and keep the text fields short enough for the fixed EPC size limit.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. Creating, styling and downloading QR codes here costs nothing, requires no registration and adds no watermark. There is no paid version of this tool.
Do the generated QR codes expire?
No. These are static QR codes: the content is encoded directly inside the pattern, so the code itself never expires and depends on no service. A URL code keeps working as long as the website it points to stays online.
Can I use the QR codes for my business?
Yes. The codes are yours to use for any purpose, including commercial projects, products and paid advertising. No attribution is required.
Which download format should I choose?
PNG is the safest all-round choice for screens and documents, JPG is fine when file size matters, WebP gives a smaller modern file, and SVG is the one to pick for print because it scales to any size without going blurry.
Can I change the design of a QR code later?
Yes. Your content and style settings stay saved in this browser, so reopening the page brings back exactly where you left off. You can then restyle the code and download it again at any time - just remember to replace previously printed copies.
